Practice Profile:
The practice has taken a remote-office approach since 2020 to allow for broader area coverage, with a base in Gloucestershire covering Stroud, Bristol and the Cotswolds, while retaining a body of work in north and east London, although projects are undertaken throughout the UK. The practice has experienced architectural technologist resources to call on for larger or more complex projects, including the ability to undertake measured building surveys locally to both these areas and covers many design approaches from traditional architectural design and building procurement to interior design. Our design ethos is to approach all projects from a conceptually creative and client-driven viewpoint, with an emphasis on design quality, user benefit and sustainability principles. New work is contemporary in nature, but with a conservation portfolio within the practice tempered by an understanding of and sensitivity to historical context and a focus on carefully applied material richness.

Director Profile:
Rosie Craggs has been an RIBA chartered architect since 2010. She has worked on award-winning projects as diverse as one-off domestic extensions and conversions in conservation areas including Bath and Edinburgh, new build houses, hotel refurbishment, train station and airport projects. She has also led best-practice sustainability schemes including finished projects with a BREEAM Excellent rating and worked in primary school design.

In addition to this, she has exhibited work at the RIBA in Portland Place as well as private exhibitions.

Ben Craggs joined the practice as consulting director in 2021, having previously benefitted from experience on a broad range of project types.  These include urban scale housing projects, mainline rail stations, schools, and Elizabeth line stations, bringing a breadth of knowledge in coordinating architecture and engineering within a larger multidisciplinary design team.

Prior to the founding of SS4 Architects, Ben and Rosie have also worked together - first meeting in university where they were among members of the design team winning an award for their work in the AJ Small Buildings competition 2009.
