The project extends a ground floor two-bedroom flat, converted from a terraced house within a street made up of Edwardian terraced houses.
The extension creates better-planned and larger living accommodation, requiring  fewer than 10 square metres additional internal floor area by way of extension to the side of the current building footprint. This conservative addition controls the costs of the work but nonetheless allows for the creation of a generously sized open plan living/dining/kitchen, adding space, light and significant impact to the principal room within the flat, transforming the living space.

The design includes an internal courtyard to create a private outside space for the second bedroom, and incorporates large sliding folding doors to integrate the living and garden courtyard spaces in summer months and further enhance the sense of space created. The existing chimney and dividing wall recesses were also exploited as features to maximise clever use of space, always at a premium in such properties.
